With temps above 100 and long summer days, I haven’t done much besides keep the garden watered and try to stay cool.
The garden looks scraggly and in need of much work at this point of the year. A few stubborn things are still producing: lemon cucumbers, Swiss Chard, pumpkins and peppers.
We planted sweet potato vines a month ago, which are alive but not yet thriving. The chickens have enjoyed the fruits of our labor as well, eating corn, sunflower, and amaranth seeds as they dry out and drop.
Now is the time for regrouping.
